Sailing in Port-Cros National Park: Preserving a Jewel in Complete Freedom

Heading for Pristine Waters – As Long as You Respect Them

Port-Cros and Porquerolles are among the most beautiful sailing destinations in the Mediterranean. But this exceptional setting comes with specific regulations that are essential to know before dropping anchor.

Anchoring is strictly prohibited on Posidonia seagrass meadows, which serve as vital refuges for marine biodiversity. To enjoy these areas without harming them, ecological mooring buoys are available in several bays.

Within 300 meters of the shoreline, speed is limited to 5 knots, and noise pollution must be avoided to preserve the peace of the area and its visitors. The sea is not a trash bin: wastewater and garbage must be kept on board until you return to port.

Some areas are designated as fully protected zones, particularly around Bagaud Islet and in Port-Man Bay. In these sectors, navigation, anchoring, swimming, and even access are strictly prohibited.

Finally, fishing and harvesting are prohibited in protected areas — even when snorkeling. Observing without touching remains the best way to enjoy these unique marine landscapes sustainably.

At SailHero, we encourage responsible sailing. Our team is here to advise you on best practices, areas to avoid, and offer suitable equipment for cleaner, quieter, and more eco-friendly navigation.
